Eco-chic wellness resort in a UNESCO World Heritage fortress
Amenities
Fort Resort Beemster has a botanical sauna, a panorama sauna, and a kelosauna within its historic fort walls. The property offers an outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a herbal bath, and a salt water pool for year-round use. Guests can book spa treatments using natural Thalion products, including massages, facials, hammam sessions, and body wraps in the on-site spa.
Accommodations
The 16 rooms and suites were designed by Osiris Hertman and offer views over the Fortgracht. Each room preserves historical details from the original UNESCO monument structure. Soundproof rooms and non-smoking floors are available throughout the resort.
Dining
The Poterne Restaurant is recommended by Michelin and serves seasonal dishes with organic products from the region. The restaurant has an adjacent terrace with lounge sofas, a fireplace, and a lounge tent with a bar and kitchen. Breakfast can be delivered to the room, and special diet menus and packed lunches are available.
Points of Interest
The hotel sits within a UNESCO World Heritage fort, 13 km from Volendam on the IJsselmeer coast. Amsterdam is 29 km away, and the beaches and dunes of Castricum aan Zee are 37 km from the property. Nearby sights include Zaanse Schans, Volendam, and Amsterdam.
Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Practices
The resort operates with plastic-free initiatives and reuses rainwater throughout the property. Bicycle rental is available for guests to explore the Beemster region. The fort's transformation into a wellness resort preserved the original building materials and minimized new construction.
